Donna Mitchell is an artist who works primarily in the pastel medium. She has been rooted in traditional realism since her early days of childhood. Her subjects are very diversified, yet she is most passionate toward portraiture of both people and pets. She creates custom commissioned portrait paintings from life and/or from reference photographs. With a lifetime of painting experience, Donna assures that she will define your subjects with the distinct qualities and character that is unique to your loved ones.
Donna is a resident of Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She has worked as a professional artist for twenty-five years. In former years, she extensively studied portraiture under the instruction of renowned portrait and figure artist, Karl Foster. Today, she continues her education by studying with some of the finest internationally renowned portrait and figure artists, including Daniel E. Greene, Wende Corporale, William Schneider, Margaret Dyer and Christine Swann. Donna’s exhibit participation in local group, juried shows and galleries are innumerable. Donna frequently exhibits solo. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including several Best of Show awards, Finalist in two International Competitions and an Instructor of the Year Award.
As an instructor of pastel painting at the Art Center School & Galleries in Mechanicsburg, Pa., Donna works with beginner and advanced students from ages 15 to senior adult. She also instructs workshops, private lessons and offers custom framing to portrait clients from her home studio.
