After retiring, Jill began taking art classes at the Art Alliance. It was there she discovered the joy of painting with pastels. She enjoys interpreting with pastels what she sees in her natural surroundings. In 2004, Jill founded the Central Pennsylvania Pastel Society with the purpose of bringing together other pastelists in the area. She is a past president of the Pastel Society, which is also affiliated with the International Association of Pastel Societies.
"Painting with pastels has brought new meaning to my life. Every day begins with the pleasure of working with the brilliant array of colors and that brings me great happiness."
