We are pleased to welcome Diane Harkleroad from Johnstown to the Society.
Diane Harkleroad started painting in pastels about 2 1/2 years ago with her good friend, teacher and mentor Kay Witt. Before painting in pastel, she started with oil around 5 years ago. Pastels is now her medium of choice.
Jeanne McKinney's painting, "River Rebirth", was accepted into the Degas 16th Biennial Exhibition at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts from October 1 to October 28th, 2016.
Her other paintings, "Coastal Impressions" and "Wreck of The Sheridan", have been accepted into the Biennial 2016 at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at St. Francis University in Loretto, PA. The show runs from October 28, 2016 to January 28, 2017.
As an artist I enjoy being immersed in the moment of nature with the landscape. I have always been inspired by the Impressionistic era capturing the experience of the scene and 'being in the moment' of the artistic creation. for the 83rd Annual Juried Exhibition of the Hudson Valley Art Association. The Board of Directors has invited Marianne to attend the opening reception and awards presentation at the Salmagundi Club, Friday April 1, 2016.
Susan Nicholas Gephart and Jennifer Shuey are both featured in the second edition of the Art Buyer's Guide (ABG). ABG's goal is to "engage the community by celebrating art enthusiasts and hard working artists. Central Pennsylvania is full of skilled artists creating new, interesting work as well as art buyers expanding their collections. ABG highlights existing art connections within our community and works to forge new, meaningful relationships among art lovers and art producers of all kinds."
Jeanne McKinney's painting, "View of the Kent House, Monhegan Island, Maine" was accepted into the Degas Pastel Society's 19th Membership Exhibition held from September 5th through September 26th at Place Saint Charles, New Orleans, LA.
Also, Jeanne's painting "Gull Rock" was accepted into the 2015 Maryland Pastel Society's "Shades of Pastel" Biennial National Juried show. The exhibition will be held from October 5 -28th, 2015 at the Hill Galleries on Capital Hill in Washington DC at the site of the Old Naval Hospital.
Marilyn Bok does not have a formal art education background. In 2001 she took her first drawing and painting lessons from Gary Watson, who is a portrait artist and former illustrator with thirty-nine years of professional experience.
